Led by Dr Brooke Nickel, a global team of researchers published a landmark study in JAMA Network Open early in 2025. We analysed 1000 posts on TikTok and Instagram about medical tests which carry the risk of overdiagnosis. We found a massive proportion were misleading, and our study received media attention all over the world, including in the New York Times, the Guardian and on the ABC.
